Here’s what the Zimbabwean Government claims they achieved in 2020.

  1. Harare-Beitbridge Road Construction is definitely underway but we are still a long way from claiming it an achievement.

2. Pfumvudza Agriculture Support Programme This is surely different from Command Agriculture but still farmers are crying out on poor access to credit lines. Banks and lending firms are only willing to offer small amounts and only short-term loans.

3. US$75 Covid-19 allowance This was meant to cushion Civil-Servants during the covid 19 however since it was not in the form of cash and would only work inside Zimbabwe borders and in specific shops, it became difficult for the recipients to use the plastic money. However Civil Servants were forced to lose some of the money through money changers in order to get cash which is much more convenient.

4. Other achievements included dealing decisively with malpractices by mobile money operators, the foreign currency auction and creation of innovation hubs at universities.

After establishing these, the Information Minister honourable Monica Mutsvangwa also said “Ladies and gentlemen, chitima che progress ne development under the Second Republic hachisi kumirira ipapo, across every sector we are witnessing progressive reforms, growth and development which are intended to ensure that Zimbabwe is an Upper Middle-Income Economy by 2030”
